How do you help a 6 grader increase their vocabulary.?

Are there any good websites she could use over the summer. Im told by her teachers that she needs to improve her reading comprehension as well. I have her read alot but she doesnt come ask me what anything means so im not sure if she is actually learning any new words or if she is just ping over them.
