My first time flying...?

Hi, I'm going on a trip from Burlington VT to JFK, NYC. It's only about an hour-and-a-half flight, but it will be my first time flying, and I need to know what to expect. Just thinking about it makes me nervous. I'm not afraid to crash, I'm sure I'll be fine, but what does it feel like? Should I try and get an aisle seat so I won't be tempted to look out the window? lol. The most thorough answer will get the points. Thanks.
