Need help finding an author?

Years ago, in elementary school I was introduced to an author, whose work I remember fully enjoying. I believe his name was Jesse Steward, and it seems he was from Kentucky. One of his books is titled something like, "Man With The Bull Tongue Plow." I am working with a 30-year-old memory here, so the details might be slightly off. The internet and several libraries have come up empty, any information you may have will be greatly appreciated.
